suspect isherwoods

The following is a gallery of paintings, which in my opinion, are suspect. These paintings have come on the market, been illustrated on the Internet, or passed through various Auction Houses over the last few years. This is by no means a comprehensive list and the information provided on this site, should not be used solely to make a decision regarding a painting’s authenticity. As with any purchase it is important to do your own research, to try and determine if any item is genuine. Where declared provenance is suspect and there are facts to back up these suspicions.

This gallery is provided for reference only, to allow different paintings to be compared with known genuine Isherwood’s. No liability is accepted for errors or omissions and the responsibility lies with the reader to make their own judgement, based on their own research and knowledge, regarding the authenticity of any painting.

BUYING AT AUCTION OR OVER THE INTERNET: If you purchase a painting at auction or over the internet, look over the terms and conditions of the seller or the Auction House. Read ALL the terms and ask questions. What you may find could surprise you. Many auction companies do not guarantee the authenticity of any item sold. In many cases, material is sold “AS IS” with no guarantee of any kind. You should be aware of the terms of sale before you bid.  The responsibility to take reasonable care and diligence, normally lies with the buyer.

Once again, if anyone can provide firm traceable provenance to any of the paintings illustrated, I would be happy and willing to amend my opinion.
